Mesa Grande Rate Change Letter

Dear Mesa Grande Water Customer,
Mesa Grande Water Supply Corporation has been reliably supplying quality drinking water to our neighborhood for more than 55 years. Being owned by our customers, the residents of Mesa Grande, we have always operated in the best interest of our customer/owners. As your neighborhood water supplier, we aren't governed by persons in a faraway city. As a non-profit Public Water System, we have never sought to make a profit. All the revenue we receive goes right back into the corporation to operate and maintain the system, as well as provide a reserve to handle unforeseen abnormal or emergency situations.
Our water rates have only been increased twice in the 55 years we have been in existence. We have always provided you, our customers, high quality water at an extremely low rate. However, our costs have continued to increase. The cost for electricity to run our two wells and water purification plants and the cost of chlorine continue to increase. We also must continually upgrade components in our plants to comply with state and federal regulations. I assure you that your Board members, all of whom are volunteers elected by our customers at the Annual Membership Meeting, closely monitor costs to protect the bottom line. As our costs continue to rise, we now need additional revenue to continue operating the system responsibly.
With all this in mind, your Board has reluctantly determined the need to increase the rates we charge our customers. Determined to be fair, we arrived at the new rates by surveying the other water utilities operating in Hood County. If you were to compare, you would find our rates to still be some of the lowest in the county. Our intent is to have enough revenue to continue to operate this corporation as efficiently as always and provide you with good quality, reliable water at a very competitive rate. The new rates are attached to this letter and will be effective beginning with your February 2026 bill. Please feel free to call us at the above number if you have any questions/concerns.
